The Best In Sew competition enables entrants to show off their sewing skills.  The competition includes an under 15’s category and an adults category. The criteria for entering the competition for 2014 will be announced closer to the event.

A huge well done to all who entered in 2013. It was fantastic to see a range of creativity and skill involved in beautiful handmade items, judged by textile designers and authors of Sew Fabulous Fabric, Home Sweet Sewn and Sewing for Kids, Alice Butcher and Ginny Farquhar.

The categories were:

Best A-Line Skirt (adult category)

We were looking for an A-line skirt of your own choice and length. Entrants were able to use a pattern they already had or created from their own design, however, all skirts had to feature a zip and a waistband with buttonhole. We were looking for skirts which would tell us something about that persons style, whether that be over the top inventive, creative and funky or simple and elegant.

1st Place: Amanda Read with ‘Autumn Trees’

2nd Place: Alex Webborn with ‘Autumn Love’

Best Bag for Life (under 15s category)

Entrants could customise their own bag for life. Bags could start off plain or almost plain but should have be embellished to a theme of the entrants own choice.

1st Place: Eloise White with her ‘Spider bag’

2nd Place: Maddie Torrington with her ‘Autumn Time’ bag.
