We are so excited to welcome you to Farnham Maltings an unravel… a festival of yarn. Below are some answers to frequently asked questions we receive about our craft events at the Maltings.

Why not visit by Train! 

Farnham is approximately 50 minutes from London Waterloo and there are regular services (ranging from half hourly to hourly). There is also a regular train service from Guildford and Alton. The Maltings is a five minute walk from Farnham Railway 2

If you are arriving by road:
From M25:

Take either A3 Guildford then A31 Farnham, or M3, A331 then A31 Farnham. On approaching large Farnham roundabout stay in the left hand lane and continue on by-pass until traffic lights. Turn left and first right into Approach Road (by station). Continue to end and turn right crossing back over by-pass. Turn left at bottom of hill into Red Lion Lane. The Maltings and car park are on your right.

From A287:

Enter Farnham via Castle Street. Turn left into the one way system. Move into the right hand lane and turn right at the traffic lights. Stay in the right hand lane, turn right at the fork and then move into the left hand lane, take the first left in front of the Police Station (sign posted A287 Hindhead). Then take the first right into Red Lion Lane just after the William Cobbett pub. The Maltings and car park are on your right

From Alton (A31):

Stay on Farnham By-Pass. At large set of traffic lights, turn left into South Street. Continue round corner, turn next left into Long Bridge in front of Police Station. Turn right into Red Lion Lane just after the William Cobbett pub. The Maltings and car park are on your right.

By Air:

The closest airport to Farnham is London Heathrow airport. A taxi from LHR takes approximately 45 minutes or you can take the train from LHR to Farnham via a change of trains in Woking. London Gatwick airport is also close and an easy train ride to Farnham via a change of trains in Guildford.


We have a car park but this can fill up on festival days. Alternatives car parks nearby are:

Wagon Yard Car park, just over the bridge from the Matlings. Nearest post code GU9 7PS

Central Car park, accessed off the A325. Nearest postcode GU9 7RD

Lower Hart Carpark, next to Waitrose. Nearest postcode GU9 7HA

Upper Hart Carpark, next to UCA. Nearest postcode GU9 7HA

Farnham Railway Station. Postcode GU9 8AD

A Quiet Room will be available for neuro-diverse visitors to the festival. Please ask for a member of staff at the Box Office or the Information Desk to gain access to this space.


The Riverside Café and Foyer Bar will both be open during the festival serving a variety of snacks and lunch options. A tea and coffee trolley will also be available in the marquee from 9am for early visitors before the venue opens at 10am.

Alternatively there are many local cafes and restaurants nearby or a short walk away from the Maltings.

Ticket and workshop purchases are final sale and non-refundable.

Advance Tickets
Advance tickets to unravel are only available until midnight on 20 February 2020.

Garthenor Organic Talks Series
Talks are free with an unravel ticket but seating is limited. Please arrive early to secure a place.

Workshop purchases are final sale and non-refundable. If you are unable to attend and will be sending someone in your place please let us know no later than midnight on 20 February 2020.

Workshop purchases include admission to the unravel marketplace on the same day as your workshop only.

Please check in for your workshop at the Information Desk in the foyer next to the Box Office at least 15 minutes before your class.


There is no cash ATM on site at the Maltings. Many exhibitors take card payments but not all. Should you need a cash point there are a NatWest, HSBC and Barclays a quick 10 minute walk away on The Borough. A Lloyds Bank is also nearby on Castle Street.
