maltings makers: young maker selected for prominent design show

Exciting news! Katherine Lees, a ceramist who will be at the festival of crafts this year, has been selected to exhibit at One Year On! This showcase is featured within New Designers and presents young, entrepreneurial designers who are in their first year of business. Each designer is selected on the strength of their work, flair and quality of product.

Katherine graduated from Manchester School of Art in 2012 with B.A. (Hons) in Three Dimensional Design and, after graduating, she took part in a two month residency at the International Ceramics Research Center in Denmark. Now based in Manchester, Katherine combines ceramics with textiles and precious metals to produce unique objects. Katherine is inspired by Victorian antique objects and her work celebrates charms, amulets and the symbolism and beliefs we hold which surround these types of objects. To find out more about Katherine and her products you can check out her website or Facebook page

Over the coming months we will profile the makers who will be coming to our Autumn festivals plus some of the resident shop and studio artists so, to keep up to date, check back here regularly.
