unravel 2018 charity appeal

unravel.. a festival of knitting will be creating it’s own ‘Flower Shop’ to raise money to support the work of A Place 2 Be Youth Group. And we are asking you, our unravel visitors and local, national and international crafters, to get involved by making a handmade flower to add to our display! We are asking for donations of knitted, crocheted or felted flowers for the exhibition, which will also mark the tenth unravel festival (flowers being the obvious theme for the anniversary year!).

Visitors can buy a ticket over the festival to be with a chance of winning one of the creations and all monies raised from the sales will go to the charity.

Please donate your flowers in advance of the festival either in person at the Farnham Maltings box office or post to: unravel, Farnham Maltings, Bridge Square, Farnham, GU9 7QR. Please include your name if you would like this to feature on your flowers ‘tag’. All makers donating to the appeal will be included in a lucky draw to win a pair of tickets to the unravel festival in 2019. Thank you so much for your support.

About A Place to Be

A Place To Be’s aim is to provide the young people of Haslemere, with a safe, fun and nurturing environment in which they can develop social skills, increased self esteem and citizenship. They action this, by offering a wide range of activities, such as arts, music, drama, planting, sports, cooking, debates, money management, road safety, personal safety, mindfulness, discussions and much more. A Place To Be provides qualified, experienced staff,  who give emotional and practical support to the 80 young people who attend. They are a team consisting of a management committee of four, one youth leader plus three youth workers and three regular volunteers and additional parent volunteers.

Daisy Owen, Youth Leader at A Place 2 Be said: “As we are a group which has been set up by the community, for the community, we rely totally on charitable donations to run our club. All money raised will be spent on paying qualified youth workers, providing food, activities and safe equipment. We and the young people are very grateful for all donations as it means we can continue to provide the only non-affiliated club for young people in Haslemere”.
