Sylvia Watts-Cherry is a UK designer who loves bold patterns and striking colours. She learned to knit at the age of 8 years old and is a prolific knitter, using her African heritage as well as her Scottish upbringing for inspiration in her knitting. Sylvia was a runner up in the Channel 4 TV programme, Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas Jumper in 2018, with her African inspired Christmas sweater and has patterns published in Knit Now and PomPom Quarterly. Her most recognisable pattern to date is the Nubian Queen jumper which went viral on social media in early 2019. A qualified teacher, Sylvia is using her interpersonal skills in teaching knitting techniques.
