(includes tea/coffee and same day entry to the unravel festival)
with Rachel Coopey
During this workshop you will knit a sampler of the following techniques:
• an cast on method to knit a toe up sock
• an afterthought heel
• a surprisingly stretchy bind off
• a sewn bind off
You can then use these examples as reference when knitting sock patterns at home.
Level / Ability
To complete this workshop you must be able to knit confidently in the round and will have knitted a basic sock before.
Participants should bring sock sizes needles 2.25-2.75mm, either dpns or a long circular for magic loop and approx 20g of sock yarn.
Rachel was taught to knit by her grandmother and mother when she was little and she’s still got the extremely long garter stitch stitch scarf to prove it! She was drawn to sock knitting when she bought 3 skeins of hand-dyed sock yarn because they were so beautiful and thought I’d give knitting a pair of socks a try, she has had a pair of socks on the needles ever since!
She has published four books of sock designs, you can keep up with her new designs and knit-a-longs at coopknits.co.uk and in her group on Ravelry.
Next Step Sock Techniques with Rachel is on Sunday 18 Feb, 10am – 1pm. Book your tickets here
