Make your own reclaimed leather espadrilles
Saturday 8th June 11am – 2.30pm
Join social enterprise Juta Shoes to make your own sustainable shoes. Taught by our expert makers, you’ll choose from our range of reclaimed leather or upcycled vegan materials, cut your pattern, and hand-sew your shoes. Everyone will walk out with their own brand-new pair of bespoke espadrilles. All proceeds from this workshop go towards our social mission of providing training, support and employment to women who face barriers to work in East London.
Level/Ability: No experience needed.
All materials and equipment provided.
Please let us know your shoe size, and whether you would like vegan materials.
Juta is a social enterprise empowering women through craft. We support, train and employ women who face barriers to work, offering them flexible, well-paid, supported work making our handcrafted espadrilles and teaching crafts workshops. We work with sustainable materials, like leather that we upcycle from local factory offcuts, reclaimed vegan faux fur, and eco-friendly jute soles.
Our mission is to combat social and economic exclusion caused by lack of access to fair work. In London, one in five jobs are paid below the London Living Wage, and women and those from migrant and refugee backgrounds are more likely to be underwaged or unemployed.
Each purchase and every workshop provides opportunities for our makers and teachers to earn a fair wage, build confidence, and grow their community.
Workshop ticket includes same day entry to thread and free tea or coffee during the workshop. To buy your ticket click here
