Knit Aviary charity appeal

In 2017, unravel.. a festival of knitting will be creating it’s own ‘Knit Aviary’ to raise money to support the work of local young persons charity Step by Step

And we are asking you, our unravel visitors and local, national and international crafters, to get involved by donating a handmade bird to add to the special display!

Inspired by the glass box entrance at the front of the Maltings’ building, we are asking for donations of knitted, crocheted or felted birds to create a special exhibition marking the festival’s ninth year. The birds will be sold following the festival, with all money raised going to Step by Step, the Aldershot based charity who work alongside young people (11-25 years) facing homelessness or other challenges in their lives.

Birds for the Knit Aviary can be donated in advance of the festival either in person at the Farnham Maltings box office or by post to: unravel, Farnham Maltings, Bridge Square, Farnham, GU9 7QR. Please include your name if you would like this to feature on your birdie’s tag in the display. All makers donating to the appeal will be included in a lucky draw to win a pair of tickets to the unravel festival in 2018. Thank you so much for your support.

Follow one of the patterns donated for the Knit Aviary.

Please make a bird for the Knit Aviary in any style you wish to! If you would prefer to have a pattern to work from, then feel free to make one of the birds from the patterns generously donated by unravel exhibitors.
