Create Your Own Modern Graphic Yoke with Maxim Cyr and Vincent Deslandes
Saturday 22 February 9:30am – 12:30pm
Join Maxim Cyr (@maxtheknitter) and Vincent Deslandes (@designsbydelz) to design your own modern, graphic colourwork yoke. Take inspiration from nature or your environment to find shapes and visual elements, or use predesigned illustrated elements in Max’s style to create a unique colourwork yoke to insert into a template pattern or, possibly, the pattern of your choice.
In the first part of the workshop we will be reviewing some theoretical content regarding stranded colourwork and give participants tips and tricks on how to knit the perfect yoke. But don’t worry, theory will quickly give way to creativity and practice. The second part of the workshop will focus on building our yoke chart and swatching.
Skill level: Students need to be comfortable with knitting in the round, making basic increases and decreases, and making and understanding a swatch. Previous experience knitting a sweater (preferably top-down) and doing stranded colourwork in the round in not required, but is strongly encouraged.
What do participants need to bring:
- Pencil and eraser
- Paper for taking notes
- Coloured pencils
- Small quantities of yarn in either 4ply, sport or DK weight, a few yards of each, in solid or semi-tonal contrasting colours, at least 4 different colours but the more the better!
- Appropriate needles for the weight of yarn used
Yarn for this workshop is generously provided by Walcot Yarns
