Alice and Ginny at thread 2019 – Sew Special
Sewing experts and Maltings’ resident tutors Alice and Ginny will be hosting a special participatory area at thread for 2019.
Open to all visitors, the space will offer the perfect opportunity to get together with old friends and meet new ones; and to get conversations going within the thread community all around why and what we sew!
This talented duo will have displays, sewing machines and other props available to help initiate conversation around the benefits of sewing and textiles, including sociability, sustainability and dressmaking to fit us as individuals, to offer advice on particularly ‘sticky’ sewing questions, to talk through techniques and advise on charities you can support through dressmaking and textile projects. There’s even a chance to win a prize, generously donated by Janome.
No booking required, just turn up and get involved.
About Alice & Ginny
Alice & Ginny met over 35 years ago, drawn together through their keen interest in sewing and textiles. They have worked collaboratively since 2001, launching their handmade textile business ‘folydokee handmade’, making textile gifts from recycled and vintage fabrics and selling at high profile craft and home/lifestyle fairs.
Their journey together continued, with the publishing of three sewing/ crafting books and featuring regularly in sewing and home magazines. They continue to be the go-to ladies within the industry, whilst also working as expert tutors, running a variety of workshops for adults and children across the South East.
